Marine Life Video Tapes

Beneath A Tranquil Sea
A professional video by Ray Izumi

An introduction to the marvelous diversity of life found in the cold waters of the Pacific Northwest

Four years in the making, Beneath A Tranquil Sea was filmed in the chilly waters of the Pacific Northwest, from Puget Sound to Vancouver, British Columbia. In order to capture footage of the wide variety of creatures portrayed, award winning photographer Ray Izumi dove in many locations and in every type of weather.

While diving in ten foot swells and currents during a snowstorm may not be every diver's idea of a good time, the amazing variety of marine life found in these waters often surprises divers accustomed to warmer waters. This is a magical world of fish as colorful as any found in tropical waters, some seen here on film for the first time. Rare, and sometimes bizarre, animals like the Rainbow Nudibranch are shown in behaviors rarely seen even by dedicated cold-water scuba divers.

Beneath A Tranquil Sea is the perfect introduction to the marvelous diversity of life found in the cold waters of the Pacific Northwest. Filmed and edited entirely in digital video format, the footage shows the underwater world in a startling color and clarity that will delight even the most experienced diver!

A second version of Beneath A Tranquil Sea, included on this tape, serves as a creature identification guide, with the name of the animal shown alongside the footage. An included booklet matches the common names to the scientific name, with page references to the two most popular ID books for the area. All fifty-five species seen in the tape are positively identified.

As an added bonus, this tape includes the video Down and Dirty, winner of the 2001 EPIC international photo contest.

The tape is available in VHS and S-VHS formats.
