Size:
This species attains a maximum length of 23 cm (9.1 inches).

Distribution:
Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

Habitat:
The golden butterflyfish occurs on back reef, reef faces and fore reef slopes. It typically occurs in areas with rich coral growth, at depths of 3 to 20 m (10 to 66 feet). This species is often found hanging under table corals (Acropora spp.) during day.

Distinguishing Characteristics:
The golden butterflyfish is yellow overall with orange bars on the side and a bluish gray patch behind the eye.
