The island of Cozumel off of Mexico's Yucatan pennisula has long been a meca for United States divers looking for a quick trip to splendid diving conditions. Over the years Cozumel has grown from a place know mostly only to divers to a prime destination for Caribbean cruise ship and other travelers seeking sun and sand. Cozumel lies in the hurricane belt and a good number of strong storms pass over this island. This past hurricane season (2005) was no exception. How did the island infrastructure and more importantly, the reefs weather the storm.

In this article, CoralRealm member James Ridgway details his recent trip to Cozumel and files his report on the conditions of the island and diving after the 2005 hurricane season!
