Diving at Wakatobi - Part I
by Terri Parson
All photos by Terri Parson and Terry Majewski unless noted otherwise

Just six degrees south of the equator, off the southeast coast of Sulawesi, Indonesia lies a tropical dive destination called Wakatobi Dive Resort. Open only five years, this resort is so remote that all but a small percentage of the inhabitants of this area live without electricity, running water or telecommunications. Yet reports of the spectacular diving in this area are spreading throughout the dive community. In this exclusive, two-part CoralRealm.com feature story, you'll learn what the Wakatobi "buzz" is all about. In addition to learning about the resort facilities, we've included a CoralRealm review of the diving and marine life found there. Whether you're a diver, marine naturalist, aquarist, or armchair explorer, this article and the accompanying photographs should give you a good sense of the Wakatobi experience.
