Of all the reefs piscine inhabitants, few can rival the beauty and majesty of the angelfishes. There splendid colors and graceful shapes have made them highly sought after by underwater photographers. The angelfish family, known scientifically as the Pomacanthidae, currently consists of 81 species, comprising seven genera. Although they are not the most common fishes on coral reefs, they're some of the most conspicuous because of their magnificent colors.

In this CoralRealm University "course", you'll learn about the food habits and feeding behavior of these heavenly fishes. We'll take a detailed look at what and how these fish eat, as well as info on their feeding anatomy.
