The family Pomacentridae is one of the largest families of reef fishes. There are more than 330 species, most of which inhabit tropical reef environments. They can be found in a wide array of habitats, from tidal creeks to deep fore reef slopes. These fishes are ubiquitous in the coral reef biome. Some of them are unrivaled in chromatic splendor.
