There are many beautiful sponges that live on coral reefs, like this yellow tube sponge.
Sponges may be one of the most under-appreciated groups of invertebrates. But this is a large group of onvertebrates, containing over 5,000 species placed in four classes and is one of several groups of organisms that helps construct coral reefs. The majority of sponges are marine, although about 150 species can be found in freshwater ecosystems. Many sponges are found on coral reefs.
