Coral reef fishes feed on a variety of different foods. Some of the carnivorous species
specialize in feeding on zooplankton, tiny animals that float about in the water column. These
reef fishes are adapted to target these small organisms, above the reef.
In this article, we will look at the adaptations these fishes possess that enable them to
utilize this food resource.
