Did you know that the diet and tooth shape of the white shark changes as it grows? Did
you know that larger cownose rays are better diggers than the juveniles are?
In this portion of
Coral Realm's survery of shark and ray food
habits we examine how the size of a shark or ray determines, in
part, what it eats. We look specifically at the changes in the diet of the white shark,
tiger shark, lesser-spotted catshark, and the sicklefin devil ray as they grow. We also compare
the diets of several requiem sharks that attain different sizes. (This article includes
two enlargable photographs.)
Dive in and learn more about the food habits of this fascinating group of fishes!
