<>Did you know that some rays eat as many as 50 prey items in a single day? Did you know that the sandtiger shark eats less per week (relative to its body weight) than a largemouth bass?

In this portion of Coral Realm's survery of shark and ray food habits we look at what is known about the food consumption rates of these fishes. Our treatise includes an in depth look at the literature on this subject, with weekly rations listed for a number of different elasmobranch species. The digestion and evacuation rate of sharks is also examined. (This article includes two enlargable photographs and an informative table.)

Dive in and learn more about the food habits of this fascinating group of fishes!
