Shark Lab - Shark Sex Part 2
The Reproductive Behavior of Sharks and Rays

In Shark Sex: Part 1 we examined the unique reproductive anatomy of the elasmobranch fishes. We also looked at behavioral trends in shark and ray reproductive behavior, like biting and single clasper use, and we investigated what is known about elasmobranch mating systems. In Shark Sex: Part 2, we will survey courtship and mating in elasmobranch families, where such information exists. We will also include details about egg-laying or the birthing process where available. Members of CoralRealm can click on the family name below and learn more about their courtship and copulatory behavior. (Note: these family accounts will be updated as new information on their mating behavior becomes available.)
