Article Summary:

Diving for New Species off Bali, Indonesia (Part 2.)
by Dr. John E. Randall - CoralRealm Advisor

The island of Bali has beautiful scenery both below and above water.
The fabled Indonesian island of Bali conjures images of ornate Hindu temples, exotic dancers, green rice terraces, and steaming volcanoes. It is also famous for surfing, as its long southeastern shore is broadly exposed to the Indian Ocean. Until recently, it was not known for diving. Indonesia, however, has the richest marine fauna and flora in the world, and Bali has now developed into a major diving center.

Dr. John Randall CoralRealm is honored to have Dr. John Randall as a member of our board of advisors. He is a leading authority on coral reef fish taxonomy, a biologist, avid diver, underwater photographer and author of seven books and over 500 scientific articles on fishes and other marine life. The article includes a map of Bali's top diving regions, descriptions of marine life likely to be encountered at these sites and photographs of some of the undescribed species that Dr. Randall found in his explorations of Bali.
