North Sulawesi Indonesia
Diving Bunaken and the Lembeh Strait
by Terry Majewski

Between September 22 and October 8 of 1997 my wife and I made 35 dives in Northern Sulawesi Indonesia. Our diving took place in the Lembeh Strait and in the Bunaken-Manado Tua marine reserve. The Lembeh strait is known for its strange and exotic marine life including the giant frog fish, the ambon scorpion fish, the devil fish, mandarin fish, stargazers, mimic and blue-ringed octopus and nudibranches of all shapes and colors.

The Bunaken-Manado Tua marine reserve is world-reknowned for its shallow coral gardens and plunging walls filled with more than 3000 species of fish and the largest variety of hard and soft corals found on the planet. Visibility at Bunaken is generally 30 meters and water temperatures are warm and pleasant.

Enjoy.
