Key Features

Before any purchase you should know the features of the item you are buying. LED lights are no different. The Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium LED Light has some amazing features that really bring these lights to the next level:

Fully adjustable 24 hour lighting program

The Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium LED Light comes pre-programmed with a 24 hour lighting program. First of all, the program is set to start at 7 AM. There is a 90 minute ramp-up period which includes a slow sunrise setting. After this 90 minute sunrise program has finished the light will give you the daylight setting until 6 PM, which is the set off time, and the beginning of the 90 minute ramp-down period.

During this ramp-down period you will be given a nice sunset display. After the ramp-down a moonlight display will play for six hours before the lights will turn off, before turning themselves on again the next day at 6 AM.

This 24 hour program is fully adjustable. You can reprogram the on and off timings, to control the length of the daylight setting.

What is great is that you have full control over the intensity of each LED in each of the sunrise, daylight, sunset, and moonlight programs. This means you can adjust the intensity of the blue, red, green, and white lights to best suit your tank setup.

6 on-demand weather scenes

There are six integrated on-demand weather scenes for you to choose from. This can really raise the bar. You can take an active interest in the lighting of your marine tank as you can choose between cloud cover effects, storm modes complete with lightning strikes, and lunar and dusk evening modes!

These modes are brilliant for making the most from your aquarium LED lights, and if you have children they will be sure to love using these modes!

As an additional awesome feature, these lights come equipped with special effects! At a touch of a button on the remote control you can increase cloud cover, fade light and even start up a lightning storm! This will truly make your aquarium look unique!

Integrated wave pump control

A brilliant feature of these lights is that with the loop system you can connect up to three Current USA eFlux Wave Pumps. With this integrated wave pump control you can truly be the master of the reef!

There are numerous modes you can choose from, including wave pulse, surge flow, steady stream, and feed modes. Wave pulse mimics the wave action found on reef crests, while steady stream creates a continuous tank wide circulation. Surge flow simulates the surging water current found around reefs in the natural environment. Feed mode slows and stops the circulation so you can easily feed your fish and corals.

Circulation is of vital importance to reef tanks, and being given full control over the flow is fantastic. These modes help to emulate the natural reef environment which further brings your tank a step closer to the wild.

Ease Of Use

A huge tick in the favor of the Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium LED Light is the ease of use. These lights are easily controlled via an infrared remote control, called the LOOP system. The instruction manual gives you very clear instructions on how to best use and fully control your new aquarium LED lights.

Via this remote control you can easily customize the pre-set 24 hour lighting program. This program follows natural biorhythmic lighting cycles. Biorhythmic means they recreate a slow steady sunrise, bright full daylight, a setting sunset, and even moonlight. Using the control you can easily customize the timing and light spectrum of each cycle to make it fully integrated with your tank setup.

It even comes with tips on how intense the white, blue, green, and red lights should be in each cycle for different tank setups. This is a huge tick in the box as you aren’t just groping in the dark. You can adjust the settings based on the ideal for a certain tank setup and tweak it for your setup.

The on-demand weather scenes are also very easy to work. It is made very clear and obvious what these do and how to control them and get the best from these effects.

Installation and Setup

It can be a daunting prospect to install and setup a new aquarium. There is a lot to it, and things can be fiddly. This can also be true of LED lights.

But don’t let these worries scare you out of buying these great aquarium LED lights though, as the installation process is fairly simple. The manufacturer’s manual that comes with the Current USA Orbit lights guides you through the correct installation procedure so that you don’t go wrong. Just ensure to read all the warnings so something doesn’t end up in the wrong place!!

In the box you get everything you need to install the lights including; 2 adjustable docking mounts , a 12V DC UL power supply, the LOOP light & wave pump controller, a Wireless LED remote control, an LED light HUB which connects up to 2 lights, and the instructions.

No matter what size aquarium you have, this model of lights will fit, as they come with sliding docking legs which aid the installation process; simply alter the size and the model will fit the tank. There are multiple sizes to choose from; 18 – 24 inches, 24 – 36 inches, 36 – 48 inches, and 48 – 62 inches. Measure the length of your tank and get the light size that is most suited to you.

Follow the manual and you should find setup pretty straightforward. Then play around with the different settings to see all the cool features on this model!

Light Spectrum

The light spectrum aquarium lights emit is very important. They determine what your finalized tank will look like. LED lights also have an impact on the health and behavior of your aquarium fish.

Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium LED Light Specs

Shows the intensity of each wavelength and how much PAR is available at different depths in a standard 21″ depth tank.

The Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium LED Light is designed to emit a spectrum of light more suited to marine reef tanks. A higher ratio of actinic blue spectrum LEDs  are then balanced out with other LEDs emitting full spectrum light. This creates the ideal color spectrum combination for fish, inverts, live rock and corals to fluoresce. Wide angle 120° dispersion lenses are fitted to more evenly spread light over your entire tank, and they also while ensure superior color blending.

The picture above shows the intensity of each wavelength and how much PAR is available at different depths in a standard 21″ depth tank. PAR is photosynthetically active radiation, or the part of the light spectrum plants and corals use for photosynthesis. Up to 9″ depth enough light is available for low-light SPS corals, LPS corals, soft corals, zoanthids, and mushroom corals; basically everything! Less light available with increased depth as it is quickly absorbed. This means less reef species are able to thrive. Up to 12″ LPS corals, soft corals, zoanthids, and mushroom corals can thrive, and the same is true for up to 18″ depth, except that only low-light LPS corals are able to live. At 21″ depth only soft corals, zoanthids, and mushroom corals can grow.

The spectrum available makes your aquarium brilliantly vibrant. Any animals you have in your tank will benefit; fish, plants, and corals alike will all look stunning. And with a durable and sturdy design these lights will last the distance.

Conclusion

The Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium LED Light has very cool features designed to make your reef aquarium look its best. The light spectrum emitted has a higher ratio of actinic blue which enables the coral and other inhabitants to shine.

You have full control over these lights; the new LOOP remote control makes it incredibly easy to find the best settings. You have a number of pre-set 24 hour lighting programs to choose from, as well as dynamic weather programs. Being able to link up wave makers to the LOOP system gives you huge control over feeding time too!

Overall, the Current USA Orbit Marine Aquarium LED Light is an incredible piece of kit. It is well worth getting for your reef tank!
